DJK-VfL Billerbeck (full name: Deutsche Jugendkraft - Verein für Leibesübungen Billerbeck 1912 eV ) is a sports club from Billerbeck in the Coesfeld district . The first women's soccer team qualified twice for the DFB Cup .

history

The club was founded on January 12, 1912 as the Billerbeck gymnastics club , which was a member of the German Youth Force . In the spring of 1919, a football club was founded with FC Pfeil Billerbeck . On July 4, 1933, the gymnastics club resigned from the Deutsche Jugendkraft under pressure from the National Socialists, before the club was renamed VfL Billerbeck on March 31, 1937 . At the same time, FC Pfeil joined VfL. After the end of the Second World War , VfL Billerbeck was re-established on September 21, 1945, which rejoined the German youth force on April 2, 1960.

In 1986 the club founded a women's team. This already played in the early 2000s in the national league before the team had to relegate in 2005. In 2008 Kristine Zumbält became European champion with the German U-17 national team . The immediate ascent followed. After a runner-up in 2010 behind Germania Hauenhorst , he was promoted to the Westphalia League a year later . The team was able to win all 24 games of the season. In 2013 and 2014, the Billerbecker women came third in the Westphalia League.

A year later, the team achieved their greatest success by winning the Westphalia Cup with a 1-0 win at 1. FFC Recklinghausen , which is associated with participation in the DFB Cup. In the first round, the Billerbeck women surprisingly beat the second division FFV Leipzig 3-2, before the team lost 0:19 to the Bundesliga club VfL Wolfsburg in round two . In 2018 the women from Billerbeck won the Westphalia Cup for the second time with a 2-0 win over Germania Hauenhorst.

The men's team rose to the district league in 2005. Seven years later, when he was thirteenth, he was relegated to the district league A. In 2014, after a 2-1 playoff win against FC Epe, he returned to the district league. However, the direct relegation followed in the following season. In the 2017/18 season he was promoted to the district league again.

With Sebastian Langkamp the club produced a Bundesliga - and with Guido Fleige a second division player. The home venue is the Helker Berg sports center with a capacity of 5000 spectators.
