On the way to the semifinals, Dronia played six games against Carl Zeiss Jena, Racing Strasbourg and Honved Budapest. In the semi-finals in April 1979 he was on the field against Mönchengladbach both times. In the 2-2 home draw against the Bökelberg eleven, he formed the defensive in front of goalkeeper Gerhard Heinze with Bregman, Jakobs and Peter Fenten , supported by midfield with Manfred Dubski , Herbert Büssers , Dietz and playmaker Kurt Jara . The home game decided Mönchengladbach with 4-1 goals and thus moved into the final. In the round under Franz's successor Horst Köppel , 1982/83, he was not used due to protracted injuries. In the preview of the round 1983/84 in the special Kicker issue is noted: “All football fans around the Alm hope that something will finally come in the new season with Norbert Dronia, the team in defense is finally stabilized. There is no doubt that Feldkamps [the new coach] is the first goal and that he also manages to bring security to the back rows. "With a goal difference of 40:49 compared to last year with 46:71, coach Karlheinz Feldkamp succeeded - he was replaced by Gerd Roggensack on March 23, 1984 - and Dronia had actually participated in 27 missions and three goals.
