Life

Norbert Luft studied chemistry at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt , where he graduated in 1941 as a chemist. From 1943 to 1953 he was responsible for rocket research, and from 1952 to 1963 he was head of industrial research and development institutes in England and Germany. Even during this time he was in 1959 with the work to kinetics of heterogeneous polymerization of olefins in Frankfurt to Dr. phil. nat. PhD . In 1963 he became a lecturer at the Konstanz University of Applied Sciences and in 1974 a professor there.

In 1977, Luft succeeded Georg Schug as Rector of the University of Konstanz. Its main task was the implementation of the new Fachhochschulgesetz with the award of the new diploma degrees. 1980 Luft gave the official business to Olaf Harder .

His research areas were physical chemistry and chemical process engineering, in particular hydroxylamine decomposition flames as well as the kinetics and mechanism of diazotization. He published several scientific papers on the subject. Some work has been patented by Shell (CIPO patents 843928, 818655).

He belonged to the Johannis Masonic Lodge Tor zum Süd in Konstanz on Lake Constance.
