Men's Nordic Football Championship 1981–83

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Nordic football championship 1981–83 for men's national teams took place between May 14, 1981 and September 7, 1983. The competition, which was held for the 13th time, was won by defending champions Denmark for the third time.

In view of the growing number of qualifying matches for both world and European championships , it was becoming increasingly difficult to coordinate the dates between the individual teams. Because of this, the regular events were stopped in 1983 and the last game, which no longer had any influence on the winner of the competition, was canceled. In 2000 there was a one-time new edition.

mode

The four participating teams played the tournament winner according to the “everyone against everyone” mode, with each team playing twice against each other. The team that had the most points or, if there was a tie, the better goal difference at the end of all games, won the tournament.
