The North Fork Vermilion River is a left tributary of the Vermilion River in the US states of Illinois and Indiana . The river is 100 km long and drains an area of 764 km² (518 km² in Illinois and 246 km² in Indiana).
The North Fork Vermilion River has its source in Benton County , Indiana. It crosses the border into Illinois and flows through Vermilion County in a predominantly southerly direction. It passes the villages of Hoopeston , Rossville and Bismarck . The river to Lake Vermilion is dammed northwest of Danville . The reservoir is used to supply drinking water. The North Fork Vermilion River flows along the western outskirts of Danville and eventually joins the Vermilion River, which flows eastward. Most of the North Fork Vermilion River's catchment area is used for agriculture.
