Nowy Secymin (formerly Secymin Niemiecki , German German Secymin ) is a village in the municipality of Leoncin in the powiat Nowodworski of the Masovian Voivodeship in Poland , on the southern bank of the Vistula .

history

Former wooden Protestant church

The settlement of the area by the Dutch (see Hauländer or Vistula Germans ) began in the second half of the 18th century (e.g. in 1777 the neighboring Deutsch-Wilków was established). A German school in Secymin was mentioned in 1798 when it belonged to the province of South Prussia after the third partition of Poland from 1795 to 1807 . In 1809 Secymin came to the Duchy of Warsaw and in 1815 to the newly formed Russian-dominated Congress Poland . In 1827 Secymin Polski, Secymin Niemiecki and Secyminek were distinguished and in German Secymin there were 29 houses with 260 inhabitants. In 1846 an Evangelical Augsburg branch of Wyszogród was established for the places Secymin, Kromnów, Famułki, Gniewniewice, Wilków and Myszory. At that time there was a Mennonite cemetery in the village . It is possible that the Mennonites converted to Lutheranism.

In 1918, after the end of World War I , it became part of Poland. In 1923 a Protestant wooden church was built in Secymin Niemiecki for the branch community, which had around 3,000 members. It later became an independent parish of the Evangelical Augsburg Church in Poland .

During the Second World War it belonged to the Generalgouvernement . In 1944 the Protestants were evacuated by Germans. From 1945 the wooden church is Roman Catholic.

From 1975 to 1998 the village belonged to the Warsaw Voivodeship .
