Ntshuks Bonga

Ntshukumo "Ntshuks" Bonga (born October 1, 1963 in Johannesburg ) is a British jazz musician ( saxophone ) of South African origin.

Bonga came to London with his family in 1970, where he grew up. He received guitar and violin lessons in school ; as an autodidact he learned the clarinet and saxophone. Between 1991 and 1993 he belonged to various groups of Maggie Nicols . In 1992 Louis Moholo brought him into his band Exiles ; he later played in his unit , with which he also released several albums. With Gibo and Pule Pheto he formed the Trio Silapha . Then he founded his own ensembles, first the Trio Tshisa (with Marcio Mattos and Ken Hyder ), then the septet Tokolosho . He also worked with Robyn Hitchcock ( Moss Elixir ) and was a member of Claude Deppas Horns Unlimited . Lucky Ranku selected him for his African Jazz All Stars .
