Nvidia Shield Tablet (2014)

The Shield Tablet, released at the end of July 2014, has stereo speakers and is available as a 16- and 32-GB model, with the former only having a WLAN module and no LTE installed. The LTE variant has both WLAN (also 5 GHz) and LTE in the latest technical standard, including MIMO . Two 5-megapixel cameras that are HDR- capable are also installed. Up to four controllers can be connected to the tablet via radio, the device also includes GPS , Glonass , Bluetooth 4.0 as well as a micro-USB and a mini-HDMI connection. Games have the option of storing data on a micro SD card.

Nvidia Shield Tablet K1 (2015)

On November 19, 2015, the Nvidia Shield Tablet K1, a cheaper version of the tablet released in 2014, was released. In Germany, the tablet with 16 GB of memory is available for 199 euros, the old version cost from 299 euros. The technical data are identical to those of the model from 2014, but the version with 32 GB memory and LTE is not available. The stylus in the case is no longer built in , which reduces the weight of the tablet from 390 g to 359 g. The scope of delivery also no longer includes a charger. The original Nvidia charger is available for 24.99 euros, but any commercially available USB charger can also be used as an alternative.

criticism

The tablet was generally well received, especially since it is one of the few gamer tablets with Android Lollipop support. The 8-inch tablet offers lossless Full HD support with a pixel density of 283 ppi. The rather high weight of 390 g or 359 g (K1 model) and the relatively short battery life are often criticized.
