O. Jochen Schmidt

O. Jochen Schmidt (born July 31, 1938 in the German Reich ) is a German film architect and set designer .

Live and act

After graduating from high school, Schmidt completed an apprenticeship as a carpenter and completed a degree in interior design . Schmidt has been active as a production designer and film architect since 1973, and from 1975 onwards he spent the next quarter of a century doing both television and cinema. In his early years, Schmidt designed the backdrops for the most important productions of Helmut Dietl ( Der Durchdreher, Der absolut normal Wahnsinn , Schtonk! ), Wolfgang Petersens ( The consequence , black and white like days and nights ) and Robert van Ackerens ( The other smile , the purity of the heart ).

Other directors Schmidt worked on were Wolfgang Staudte , Georg Tressler , Bernhard Wicki , Franz Peter Wirth , George Moorse , Peter Weck and Axel Corti . From 1982 to 1990 he was in charge of the scenery for the BR talk show Heut'abend with Joachim Fuchsberger . Schmidt's activities alternated regularly between cinema and television, his career ended at the turn of the millennium with the ambitious three-part TV series Die Manns - A novel by Heinrich Breloer .
