action
The 50-year-old Martha Haslbeck is the caretaker in an old apartment building in the northern Balanstrasse in the Munich district of Haidhausen . Her divorced husband Josef, with whom she was married for 25 years, is remarried but appreciates the kitchen and company of his ex-wife. Josef's new wife, Ilse, is a successful bank clerk and often has major problems with her husband's "meandering life", who only works occasionally and otherwise prefers the life of a Filous. Martha and Josef's daughter Christa, who is married to a young teacher, has her own problems, which she is only too happy to discuss with her mother in her kitchen-living room. Martha falls in love with the Greek-born locksmith Costa. After some prejudices in their environment have been overcome, their partnership is accepted. When Martha loses her part-time job as a hairdresser, she works from now on as an employee in the citizen's office in her district, where she acts with great assertiveness and shows her superiors how to combine proximity to citizens and bureaucracy; caring for the house, her family and good contact with her neighbors remain important to her. Martha always tries to meet the demands of her environment with a lot of heart, mind and humor, without forgetting herself.
