The ORS Group (including ORS Service AG ) is a Swiss group of companies that offers the care and accommodation of asylum seekers in Switzerland, Austria , Germany and Italy as a service.
history
The company was founded in 1992 in Switzerland under the name “Organization for directing and special orders”. It was there that the first relevant orders from the Swiss Federal Council were carried out in the context of the Kosovo war and the associated refugee movement. As a result, orders from various Swiss cantons were also accepted.
In 2012, the Austrian subsidiary ORS Service GmbH , based in Vienna, was founded and has since been entrusted with looking after asylum seekers on behalf of the Republic of Austria. However, there are efforts on the part of the Austrian federal government to provide these care services directly through the federal government again in the future .
In 2017, the British owner Equistone restructured and realigned the company towards integration services.
Activities and Subsidiaries
Switzerland
The ORS operates seven federal centers, thirty-five residential units, transit centers and emergency aid structures in the Confederation . In 2013, around 450 apartments were looked after on behalf of the cantons of Bern , Basel-Stadt , Freiburg , Solothurn and Zurich and over forty municipalities. Around 600 employees are responsible for around 6,000 asylum seekers.
Austria
The subsidiary ORS Service GmbH , founded in 2012, operates 20 care centers for the Ministry of the Interior , in which all asylum seekers in federal care are looked after, as well as a total of four care centers and 60 apartments for the federal states of Carinthia , Lower Austria , Styria and Vorarlberg . Around 600 people are employed to look after over 4,000 asylum seekers.
Germany
The subsidiary ORS Deutschland GmbH , based in Freiburg im Breisgau , was founded in 2014 and operates eight locations in the German federal states of Baden-Württemberg , North Rhine-Westphalia and Berlin . Around 200 people are employed to look after over 1500 asylum seekers.
Italy
The Italian subsidiary was founded in 2018 and is based in Rome .
Other subsidiaries
ORS Management AG in Switzerland, founded in 2012, performs administrative tasks for the other companies. In 2018, ORS Integration AG was established in Switzerland , which has so far specialized in services in the field of labor market integration and placement.
