In the course of the municipal territorial reform in Bavaria carried out in the 1970s , the Obermühle was incorporated into the municipality of Kirchensittenbach together with the entire municipality of Algersdorf in 1971.

Template for the novel Via Mala

In August 1817, the Obermühle was the scene of a patricide that was later tried before the Hersbruck District Court . In this novel, however, John Knittel moved the scene to the Swiss canton of Graubünden and the Via Mala Gorge , near which he also relocated the fictional town of Andruss.
