The Einöde Obermühle is a district of the Central Franconian community of Kirchensittenbach in the Sittenbach Valley .
geography
The wasteland is about three and a half kilometers north-northwest of the center of Kirchensittenbach and is at an altitude of 448 m above sea level. NHN .
history
Due to the administrative reforms carried out in the Kingdom of Bavaria at the beginning of the 19th century , the place became part of the independent rural community of Algersdorf . The villages Dietershofen , Hohenstein , Morsbrunn and Steinensittenbach as well as the hamlet Entmersberg also belonged to this community . In 1964 the Obermühle had four residents.
In the course of the municipal territorial reform in Bavaria carried out in the 1970s , the Obermühle was incorporated into the municipality of Kirchensittenbach together with the entire municipality of Algersdorf in 1971.
Template for the novel Via Mala
In August 1817, the Obermühle was the scene of a patricide that was later tried before the Hersbruck District Court . John Knittel used this historical event as a template for his novel Via Mala , published in English in 1933 . In this novel, however, John Knittel moved the scene to the Swiss canton of Graubünden and the Via Mala Gorge , near which he also relocated the fictional town of Andruss.
Todays use
The Obermühle no longer fulfills a mill function. Instead, the Obermühle area is now used as an event location and an attached concept farm shop. Regional fish farming is carried out in the adjacent ponds that are fed by the Sittenbach .
traffic
State road 2246 (junction Hormersdorf-Henfenfeld) passes east of Obermühle. The Obermühle is served by line 338 of Omnibusverkehr Franken from Hersbruck via Kirchensittenbach to Hohenstein.
