Obermotzing is a district of the municipality of Aholfing in the Lower Bavarian district of Straubing-Bogen . Until 1975 it formed an independent municipality.

The church village of Obermotzing is located about two and a half kilometers southeast of Aholfing north of the Alte Laaber and west of the Obermotzinger Altwassers .

history

In 1376 Leutwein, Rainer von Rain, bequeathed his two farms in Obermotzing to the chapel at the St. Peter's Cemetery in Straubing . Heimeran acquired Obermotzing from the Straubing citizen Hermann Zeller in 1450 “together with all glory”. From then on, the Rainer lords remained over Hofmark Obermotzing . In 1599 Obermotzing belonged to the Oberamt Alburg in the Straubing Regional Court. The former Obermotzing Castle has not been preserved.

After the community was formed at the beginning of the 19th century, the rural community of Obermotzing was subordinate to the Straubing Regional Court, but judicially to the Rain First Class Patrimonial Court until it was dissolved and incorporated into the Straubing Regional Court in 1848.

On January 1, 1975, as part of the regional reform in Bavaria , the newly formed Aholfing municipality was formed from the municipalities of Aholfing, Niedermotzing and Obermotzing.
