history

Rehabilitation of the quarries on the Urbanus Stolln, 2010; in the background on the right the old customs office, on the left the inn, which was demolished in 2010

The place emerged from a Saxon customs office , which was created on the pass road leading over the Erzgebirge ridge to Hirschenstand , which in the late 18th century was used more and more than the official postal route from Wildenthal via the southwestern foothills of the Auersberg to Johanngeorgenstadt and across the border on to Karlsbad.

This connecting road between Saxony and Bohemia was known as Reichsstraße 93 from 1934 and was used extensively. After the border was closed in the first years after World War II, the border crossing was closed and only used in 1968, when Soviet tanks rolled into Czechoslovakia to crush the Prague Spring . Furthermore, in 1964 and 1968 stages of the international peace voyage led across the border. Since 1997, the border crossing, which was reopened that year, has been used by cyclists, hikers and skiers.

To the south of the village, near the border, is the Buchkamm .

The traditional inn located in the village (formerly: Geyer , after 1945 Textima holiday home) was demolished in 2010 when it was vacant.
