Oed in Bergen is a village and a cadastral municipality in the municipality of Hartkirchen in the state of Upper Austria .
The scattered settlement is located northwest of Hartkirchen. According to the last census on January 1, 2020, it has 53 inhabitants.
The area was only cleared in the 13th century. The name Oed in Bergen refers to the former barreness of this area and even today the place is sparsely populated. The cluster settlement was originally located in the Sauwald area , a formerly large forest area from Passau to the Eferdinger basin , which is now heavily lighted and consists of numerous meadows and fields in addition to small forest areas. The fertility of the soil is limited. There are a lot of stones in the fields which move upwards every year due to the frost (see also: Frost pattern soil ). Oed in Bergen lies on the foothills of the Bohemian massif , which is cut through by the Danube and extends a little into the Hausruckviertel .
