Run

Outflow of the Oelsabach on the detention pond

The three sources of the brook are located southeast of the city of Dippoldiswalde and its district Elend at 440 m above sea level . Following the slope of the Ore Mountains to the north, it initially forms the village stream of the Waldhufendorf Reinholdshain , at the end of which the body of water is located at about 364 m above sea level. From here the ridge line of the Karsdorfer Fault forms the eastern watershed of its catchment area.

Before entering the Dippoldiswalder Heide, he feeds the detention pond with the former pond mill, then crosses the federal road 170 , after a few hundred meters to feed the Heidemühlenteich , which was also created in the 17th century for mill purposes and is located near Karsdorf .

When it emerges from the wooded area of the heath in a north-westerly direction and at a height of 307 m, the stream runs within the eponymous village of Oelsa , whose village stream it forms in a kerbsole valley . Forming a narrow sole valley with several bends, the brook flows through the low-lying areas of Rabenau (Unterrabenau) and flows into the Rote Weißeritz at 250 meters above sea level at the stop of the Weißeritztalbahn of the same name . NN. The neighboring catchment areas are the Lockwitzbach in the east and the Rote Weißeritz in the west.
