The story is about the corrupt, drunk and drug addicted police officer Detective David Callahan from Bridgeport, Connecticut. Detective Callahan is shot during a drug check and only survives with the help of a stranger. A year later, the helper asks him for help in uncovering the circumstances of the death of a stripper. Callahan is given the girl's diary for this purpose. Callahan's past and the gunfight at that time are becoming increasingly important in the course of the investigation.
