Tommy Flanagan (born July 3, 1965 in Glasgow , Scotland ) is a Scottish actor .

Career

Flanagan has two older and two younger siblings and grew up in difficult circumstances. When he was six years old, his father left the family.

In his youth he worked as a painter , decorator and disc jockey . One evening when he was about to go home after hanging up, he was mugged outside the pub where he worked. The robbers demanded his coat and plates . Tommy refused to hand over the valuables, was stabbed and barely survived. Disfigured in the face by cuts (see Glasgow Smile ), he was discouraged and thought that he would never be able to live again as before. His best friend Robert Carlyle and his wife Caroline suggested that he be an actor. After some hesitation, he decided to take this step. He went to the Raindog Theater , where he worked for three years until he got an offer from Mel Gibson to make Braveheart . He convinced with his performance and worked in other big films such as Gladiator and Sin City .

From 2008 to 2014 Flanagan played the role of Filip "Chibs" Telford in the US series Sons of Anarchy .

In 2016 he was seen in the music video for the song Rotting in Vain by the metal band Korn .
