Oh no

Oh No (real name: Michael Jackson ) is an American rapper and hip-hop producer from Oxnard , who releases his albums primarily on Stones Throw Records . His pseudonym was originally Oh No the Mischievous Rebel .

Life

Oh No is the son of the soul singer Otis Jackson and the brother of the rapper Madlib . He started rapping at the age of eleven. His earliest features include involvement in tracks on the 1999 album Soundpieces: Da Antidote! by Lootpack . At that time Oh No was a member of the Kali Wild formation.

In 2004 his debut album The Disrupt came out on Stones Throw. Contributors included J Dilla and Madlib. For his second album Exodus into Unheard Rhythms , released in 2006, he only used samples from Galt MacDermot . Dr. No's Oxperiment from 2007 was a purely instrumental album, the music of which was created from samples of Turkish, Lebanese, Greek and Italian psychedelic rock . The successor Dr. No's Ethiopium from 2009. This time, Oh No used Ethiopian funk , jazz , folk , soul and psychedelic rock from the 60s and 70s.

In 2010 Oh No formed the Duo Gangrene with The Alchemist and released the EP Sawblade EP and the album Gutter Water on the Decon label .

In 2013 he produced the soundtrack for the computer game Grand Theft Auto V together with The Alchemist , Tangerine Dream and Woody Jackson. In the same year he released his seventh solo album, Disrupted Ads under Kash Roc Entertainment and guest contributions from Souls of Mischief and Declaime .

In addition to his own albums, Oh No also worked as a producer on releases by De La Soul , Murs and Wildchild .
