Oktaha is a town in Muskogee County in the US state of Oklahoma . In 2010 the place had 390 inhabitants, which is an increase of 19.3 percent compared to the 327 inhabitants in the United States Census 2000 .

history

Oktaha is named after a chief of the Muskogee , Oktarharsars Harjo and was also known under the name Sands . The city was founded in 1872 as a stop on the Missouri-Kansas-Texas Railroad . From 1900 the city had its own post office. A small business district also emerged, but declined in the mid-20th century, and when US Highway 69 looped around Oktaha, the city struggled even more to survive.
