Olaf Manthey (born April 21, 1955 in Bonn ) is a former German touring car racing driver who, as team boss of the Manthey Racing team, still uses Porsche brand vehicles , partly in cooperation with the factory. At the company headquarters in Meuspath , directly on the Nürburgring , he also runs a tuning company for Porsche vehicles with Manthey Motors .

Life

Olaf Manthey has been married since 1981. The couple had two children, but one son was killed in an accident in 2007. Manthey's trademark, a mustache with twisted ends, was trimmed after the third overall victory in a row at the Nürburgring 24-hour race in 2008.

Athletic career

Manthey began his racing career in 1974 on a Simca 1200 S in mountain and circuit races . On Ford Escort RS 2000 BMW 635 CSi and Mercedes 190E 2.5-16 Evo II he joined VLN - long distance races on the Nürburgring Nordschleife , where he won 28 overall victories.

From 1994 to 1996 he was Head of Technology at Persson Motorsport in the DTM . In 1996 Manthey-Racing GmbH was founded and I started working as a team boss.
