The class T 3 of the Oldenburg State Railroad were tank locomotives for use on local and branch lines. They essentially corresponded to the Prussian T 3 . In terms of performance, there was no difference to genus T 2 ; However, the T 3 had a friction load of around 4.4 t higher with a lower axle load.

12 locomotives were delivered by Hanomag between 1898 and 1901. In 1909 three more machines were delivered, which were only intended for shunting service. They had a grate area of 1.0 m², a heating area of 57.2 m²; they also lacked the Heberlein braking device.

The Deutsche Reichsbahn took over all 15 locomotives in 1925 and classified them as class 98.2 and gave them the numbers 98 201 to 98 215. However, they were retired in 1926.

The former 98 210 came to the Deutsche Reichsbahn in the GDR as a works locomotive after 1945 and was given road number 89 7577. It was retired in 1961.
