The class T 2 of the Oldenburg State Railroad were tank locomotives for use on local and branch lines. It was built in 38 copies based on the model of the Prussian T 2 , but differed from this in the boiler structure: It had no steam dome ; the regulator was housed in the smoke chamber . The permissible speed was 50 km / h higher than the Prussian model. 13 locomotives were equipped with a compressed air brake, the air reservoir was on the boiler.

The Deutsche Reichsbahn took over all machines except for the train number 113 as class 98.1 and gave them the numbers 98 101 to 98 137. Most of the locomotives, however, were decommissioned in 1926 and 1927; only a few were in operation until 1931. Some locomotives remained in repair shops as works locomotives until 1953.
