The leaves are arranged opposite one another on the stem. If there is a petiole, it is very short. The leaf blade is elongated-elliptical to elliptical or linear-lanceolate with a length of 1.2 to 8 centimeters and a width of 0.1 to 1.6 centimeters .

The corolla tube, which is hairy on the inside, is 3 to 4.5 millimeters long.
The angular, about 0.5 millimeter long seeds are brown.
use
Oldenlandia affinis is used in traditional African medicine for obstetrics . The effectiveness of the cyclotides contained is scientifically investigated . With the German name "Zartes Labkraut" an Oldenlandia species from Sri Lanka is used as an aquarium plant.
Systematics
The first publication took place under the name ( Basionym ) Hedyotis affinis by Johann Jakob Roemer and Joseph August Schultes . The new combination to Oldenlandia affinis was published in 1830 by Augustin Pyramus de Candolle .
From Oldenlandia affinis there are about two varieties:
- Oldenlandia affinis (Roem. & Schult.) DC. var. affinis
- Oldenlandia affinis var. Fugax (Vatke) Verdc.
