Construction of the Imago

The abdomen measures between 16.7 and 18.5 millimeters in Oligoclada abbreviata males. In females, it fluctuates slightly less in length with 15.1 to 16.6 millimeters and is also slightly shorter. The abdomen is reddish brown in females. From the sixth segment onwards , the pages turn increasingly black. From the ninth segment they are completely black. The abdomen appendages are black in the females. So it has the same coloration as that of Oligoclada walkeri . While the thorax of the males is colored metallic blue and covered with light dust, it is metallic dark brown to black in the females. There are also three yellowish stripes on the thorax of the female. The transparent hind wings measure between 21.0 and 23.0 millimeters in the males. The hind wings of the females are about the same size with 22.1 to 22.6 millimeters. There is a small dark spot at the base. The wing mark ( pterostigma ) reaches 1.9 to 2.3 millimeters in males and 2.0 to 2.3 millimeters in females. The number of antenodal veins is nine and a half to eleven and a half for the forewing, and six to eight and a half for the hind wing. The last Antenodalader in the front wing is incomplete, so it does not extend from the Costalader to the Radiusader . There are eight to twelve or eight to 13 post-nodal veins.
