The Oligoclada xanthopleura is one of the 24 dragonfly species of the genus Oligoclada from the subfamily Brachydiplacinae . The species has been proven in Manaus .

Construction of the Imago

The abdomen measures between 14.0 and 15.1 millimeters in Oligoclada xanthopleura males. In females, the length fluctuates a little less with 14 to 14.6 millimeters. In both sexes, the first three segments of the abdomen are brownish with a bluish-gray coating of dust, then black. On the fourth to eighth segment there are small yellow-brown points on the sides, which are stretched from the fifth segment. These points are a little more pronounced in the females. On the underside, the abdomen is yellowish from the fifth to the tenth segment. The thorax of the males is metallic blue black and colored greenish on its rear side. The females are generally a bit lighter. The legs are black. The labium is yellow, with the males becoming greyish on the sides and black markings in the middle of the females. The hind wings measure between 17.0 and 18.0 millimeters in the males. The hind wings of the females are slightly larger at 18.0 to 18.7 millimeters. The wing mark ( pterostigma ) reaches 1.3 to 1.8 millimeters in the males and 1.4 to 1.7 millimeters in the females. The number of antenodal veins is six to seven in the fore wing and five to six in the hind wing. The last antenodal loader in the front wing is complete, so it extends from the Costa loader to the radial artery . Post-nodal veins exist four to six or five to six.
