Oliver Schawe (born March 12, 1969 in Osnabrück ) is a former world champion in kickboxing in the World Association of WKA and world cup winner in Taekwondo . He is 6th Dan in Taekwondo and 6th Dan in Kickboxing.

Sports career

The trained sports physiotherapist began at the age of ten with the martial arts Taekwondo in the ITF system and kickboxing, where he achieved his first successes at tournaments early on. He later switched to the Taekwondo Association WTF ( World Taekwondo Federation , the world association that represents the Olympic style). Here he was able to record further international successes and even take part in the Olympic Games in Barcelona in 1992 and achieve 4th place.

It is noteworthy in Schawe's sports career that he has won several times against Korean opponents and the first European to win against Korea by technical knockout (Madrid 1990). Even with a broken nose. From 1990 to 1992 he was a member of the Bundeswehr sports company in Sonthofen . In 1995 he founded the Taekwondo Oldenburger Münsterland eV association in Vechta , where he taught as a trainer for several years and produced numerous successful athletes. The 206 cm tall athlete has been running a martial arts school in the center of Wallenhorst near Osnabrück since 2003, where both kickboxing, taekwondo, K-1 and self-defense are taught.

Oliver Schawe has the battle name "The Highlander". This name was given to him by the then DTU national coach Helmut Gärtner.

Success as a competitor

As a heavyweight, Schawe was a member of the German Taekwondo National Team of the German Taekwondo Union for several years . During his active competitive time he was able to win numerous national and international titles in several combat disciplines:
