Oliver Zgorelec

Oliver Zgorelec (* 1979 in Dornach ) is a Swiss actor .

Life

Oliver Zgorelec grew up in his birthplace Dornach. From 2000/01 to 2004 he completed his acting training at the school for theater and movement "Scuola Teatro Dimitri" in Verscio . He attended the film workshop at the Ludwigsburg Film Academy , regularly worked privately with Bruno Cathomas and took singing lessons.

He had theater engagements at the Teatro Litta in Milan (2004), at the Theaterhaus Gessnerallee in Zurich (2006), at the Theater Basel (2006, directed by Bruno Cathomas), several times at the Neues Theater am Bahnhof in Dornach, at the Roxy Theater in Birsfelden ( 2007) and at the Vorstadttheater Basel (2010). He has appeared at various theater festivals as an actor, motion actor, acrobat and dancer.

From 2005 he was regularly in front of the camera for short films, cinema and television productions, whereby he was often cast for characters with a migration background due to his southern appearance . He starred in the TV drama Sonja's Return (2006) produced for Swiss television , directed by Tobias Ineichen . For the cinema he worked with Andrea Štaka , Armin Biehler and Tamara Staudt .

In the movie Chicken Mexicaine (2007) he played alongside the main actor Bruno Cathomas, who played the habitual criminal Roby Schmucker, his Muslim friend Mohammed Hiab. In the German-Swiss homeland comedy Nur ein Sommer (2008) set in the Swiss mountains, Zgorelec was partnered with Anna Loos, the Muslim Macedonian temporary worker and journeyman dairy worker Mehmed.

Zgorelec took on leading episode roles in the TV series SOKO Stuttgart (2010, as the son of a murdered Serbian building contractor) and The Undertaker (2013, as a worker on a chicken farm) and most recently in the Swiss sitcom Die Lehrer (2016).

In addition to Swiss German and German, he also speaks fluent Italian and French. From 2014 to 2017 he attended the HyperWerk Institute at the University of Art and Design (FHNW) in Münchenstein . Zgorelec lives in Basel and now works mainly as a video maker and climbing trainer.
