Olof Palme Prize

The Olof Palme Prize has been awarded by the Olof Palme Memorial Fund for International Understanding and Common Security in Stockholm since 1987 to honor the memory of the Swedish politician Olof Palme . The prize was donated by the Olof Palmes family and the board of the Social Democratic Party . The purpose of the fund is to promote young people's opportunities for international exchange and for studies of peace and disarmament through scholarships and grants, to support work against racism and xenophobia , and to work in other ways for international understanding and common security. The Olof Palme Prize is awarded annually by the Board of Directors of the Memorial Fund for “particularly outstanding achievement” and is endowed with 100,000 US dollars (as of 2019).
