Harry Hillman crowned his Olympic appearance from St. Louis in this race. After gold in the 400 meters and 400 meters hurdles , he has now become Olympic champion in the 200 meters hurdles. Frank Castleman, fourth in the 110 meter hurdles two days later , won silver. After finishing sixth in the 400-meter run and the bronze medal in the 400-meter hurdles the day before, George Poage again took bronze here. George Varnell finished fourth. According to three sources - see table above - Frederick Schule, the Olympic champion in the 110 meter hurdles, finished fifth in this race.

Since the hurdles over 200 meters was only an Olympic discipline in 1900 and 1904, Hillman's record still holds today.
