Team ranking Men

The men's individual time trial at the 1912 Olympic Games in Stockholm was the first in Olympic history and was held on July 7, 1912 on the Rund um Mälaren course .

The times of the four best athletes of each nation counted as results for the team classification .

Race course

The drivers were sent out one by one at two-minute intervals. The winner was the South African Rudolph Lewis who already had a lead of 11 minutes over the competition after 120 km. At the time measurement after 200 km it was already 17 minutes. In the end, the lead at the finish on the second fastest Freddie Grubb from Great Britain was nine minutes. When he started the race in second place at 2:02 a.m. it was cool and calm. This early start time was an advantage, as a strong westerly wind came up around 7 a.m., which many other athletes had to contend with. In addition, Lewis undercut the previous record from Sweden's Henrik Morén (11: 22: 07.0 h) on the course around Mälaren by almost 41 minutes. This was also achieved by another 15 drivers, including Morén.

In addition to the Olympic medals, honorary diplomas were awarded to all athletes who completed the race with a time of less than 25 percent of the winning time. Thus, the time required for this was 13: 23: 18.8 hours or better. In total, 81 of the 94 drivers who finished the race received this honorary diploma.
