The men's individual time trial in road cycling at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro took place on August 10, 2016.

Olympic champion was the Swiss Fabian Cancellara . The silver medal was won by Tom Dumoulin from the Netherlands. Bronze went to the Briton Chris Froome .

Route

Both the start and the finish were in the Estrada do Pontal. A total of two laps of the 29.8 kilometer circuit had to be completed.
