The Olympus E-330 is a digital single lens reflex camera that is constructed according to the Four Thirds standard . It was unveiled in January 2006 , with a broad market launch the following April.

The Olympus E-330 is the world's first digital single-lens reflex camera (DSLR) on the market that allows the use of interchangeable lenses and offers a continuous live view display on the foldable and swiveling camera display, with which targeted self-portraits can also be taken .

This is done either via a secondary sensor instead of the ground glass in the through-the-lens viewfinder or by folding the mirror with the primary sensor to the side. The optical viewfinder is designed as a compact Porro mirror viewfinder .

The image sensor in the “Four Thirds” format (17.3 × 13.0 millimeters) delivers around 7.5 million pixels net . The MOS technology used in the Olympus E-330 should get by with less energy and simpler internal control electronics compared to CCD sensors, which should ensure an enlarged light-sensitive area per sensor element and thus more favorable noise behavior.

The E-System is the summary of all digital SLR cameras from Olympus and their accessories.
