One Week Friends ( Japanese 一週 間 フ レ ン ズ。 , Isshūkan Furenzu. ) Is a manga series by Matcha Hazuki that was released in Japan from 2012 to 2015. It was adapted as an anime television series, stage play and real film and can be classified into the genres of romance, comedy and drama. It has been published in German since 2017.

The high school student Yūki Hase ( 長 谷 祐 樹 ) notices that his classmate Kaori Fujimiya ( 藤 宮 香 織 ) is always lonely and has no contact with anyone in the class. Since he likes her, he approaches her, realizes that she is friendly and intelligent, and wants to make friends with her. But Kaori rejects him. At the end of the week she finally explains to him why: Every weekend she forgets all memories of her friends. Therefore, she does not want to have close contact with anyone and avoids her classmates. But Yūki wants to help her and from then on tries again every week to win their friendship. He motivates her to write a diary so that she can at least read up on her experiences with him. Yūki slowly succeeds in making Kaori remember him at least a little. Then he brings in his friend Shōgo Kiryū ( 桐 生 将 吾 ), who is initially not very enthusiastic about the new friendship with Kaori, and the experiences with three people can also help Kaori.

The series was published from January 21, 2012 (issue 2/2012) to January 22, 2015 (issue 2/2015) in Gangan Joker magazine by Square Enix . This brought out the chapters in seven anthologies ( Tankōbon ). The last volume in the first two weeks after publication over 100,000 times.

A German translation of the series was published in full by Carlsen Manga between February 2017 and July 2018 . Planet Manga is releasing an Italian version.

Adaptations

Anime

In 2014, the Brain's Base studio adapted the manga as an anime television series. The production was directed by Tarō Iwasaki and the lead writer was Shōtarō Suga . The character design comes from Eri Yamazaki and the artistic director was Akira Itō . The first broadcast took place from April 7th to June 23rd, 2014 at midnight (and thus on the previous TV day ) on Tokyo MX , as well as on the channels MBS , TV Aichi , AT-X and BS11 with an offset of up to one week .

A German dubbed version was released by Kazé Deutschland and Anime on Demand published it via streaming. English subtitled versions have been streamed on AnimeLab , Crunchyroll and The Anime Network , and the series has been licensed for publication in Tagalog and Chinese.

The composer of the film music was Irone Toda . The opening credits are Niji no Kakera ( 虹 の か け ら ) by Natsumi Kon and the credits are the song Kanade ( ) by Sora Amamiya.

Play

A play adaptation directed by Kei Horie was shown at the CBKG Shibugeki !! performed in Shibuya , Tokyo from November 14th to 24th, 2014. Kaori was played by Maya Okano , Yūki by Tomoki Okayama and Shōgo by Kimito Totani .

Motion picture

On February 18, 2017, a real- life film by Shōsuke Murakami based on the script by Yōko Izumisawa was released in Japanese cinemas. Kaori was played by Haruna Kawaguchi , Yūki by Kento Yamazaki and Shōgo by Takashi Matsuo .
