The outlaw

The highway begins on the Pigeon River on the border with the United States. To the south, the route leads as Minnesota State Highway 61 to Duluth . The bridge over the Pigeon River is of historical importance. It was once erected illegally, that is, without proper official approval, and was therefore known under the name The Outlaw . The original bridge was then replaced by a new one in 1934, which again only existed for 30 years; In 1964 the current bridge was built. The route runs through numerous forests parallel to the shores of Lake Superior and thus represents the direct connection from Thunder Bay to the United States. South of Thunder Bay, the Kaministiquia River is crossed, north of the river is Thunder Bay International Airport , which runs through Highway 61 is being developed. The route ends on the Trans-Canada Highway west of Thunder Bay.
