  • The Highway 407 , also known as Express Toll Road (ETR), in the Canadian province of Ontario runs from Burlington , southwest of Toronto located to Toronto around for Oshawa . The route has a length of 139 km. The western section to Pickering is the only privately guided highway in Ontario. The eastern section runs through the province of Ontario, the highway is subject to toll in both sections, which is collected by electronic monitoring devices. In contrast to other road signs in Ontario, these are not on a green background, but on a blue one.

    Routing

    Electronic toll collection

The highway begins in the west of the city of Burlington, where it branches off from Ontario Highway 403 to the north. At the same time, the Queen Elizabeth Way joins Highway 403, together they lead to the northeast. The ETR heads north for 7 km and swings to the northwest. After another 17 km the route meets Highway 403 again, but only touches it. The highway swings in a 90 ° curve to the northwest and crosses Highway 401 there . This is followed by another swivel by 90 °, now again towards the northeast. West of Toronto Pearson International Airport is Highway 403 crossed and north Highway 427 is connected via the airport to the road network.

8 km east of it, Highway 400 is crossed, which leads to the center of Toronto and the north-west of Ontario. Highway 404 crosses in Markham . The highway continues east for another 23 km and meets Highway 7 there , and another 8 km east of Highway 412 , the so-called West Durham Link . Continuing east, the route ends after 14 miles northeast of Clarington .

    expansion

The highway is to be extended to the east, the route is to be extended by 10 km by 2020. In addition, another connection to Highway 401 will be created.
