Ope is a district of Östersund in the Swedish province of Jämtlands län or in the historic province of Jämtland . The place is about seven kilometers southeast of the center of Östersund on an elongated bay of the lake Storsjön .

Before 2015, Ope had the status of an independent crime scene with 453 residents most recently (2010). Gradually grown together with Östersund, Ope was integrated into the Tatort Östersund together with the towns of Optand and Brunflo further south-east along the lake shore .

The place has a train station on the Sundsvall – Storlien railway line , which is no longer used for passenger transport, and is located on European routes 45 ( Inlandsvägen ) and 14 .
