Optand is a district of Östersund in the Swedish province of Jämtlands län or in the historic province of Jämtland . The place is about ten kilometers southeast of the center of Östersund on an elongated bay of Lake Storsjön .

Before 2015, Optand had the status of an independent crime scene with a last (2010) 257 inhabitants. Gradually grown together with Östersund, Optand was integrated into Östersund, together with the neighboring towns of Ope and Brunflo , which are situated along the lake shore .

The place is on the Sundsvall – Storlien railway and on European routes 45 ( Inlandsvägen ) and 14 .
