Grytan is a district of Östersund in the Swedish province of Jämtlands län . It is located about twelve kilometers southeast of the center of Östersund on an elongated bay of Lake Storsjön .

Before 2015 Grytan had the status of an independent Småort with 157 inhabitants last (2010). Since the area along the lakeshore southeast of Östersund is now completely built up, Grytan was integrated into the Östersund crime scene in 2015, as were the neighboring former crime scenes Optand and Brunflo .

Grytan is located on the Sundsvall – Storlien railway line (the former stop is out of service) as well as the joint European routes 45 ( Inlandsvägen ) and 14 .
