Oran "Juice" Jones

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Oran "Juice" Jones (born March 28, 1957 in Houston , Texas ) is an American R&B singer.

life and career

Oran Jones was born in Houston. He moved to Harlem and graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1981 . Until 1986 he served as a sniper for the United States Marine Corps .

In the same year Jones signed a record deal with Def Jam Recordings and was one of the label's first performers. In September 1986, Jones released the song The Rain , which achieved worldwide success and earned him two Grammy Awards nominations . At the end of 1986 he released his debut album Juice with a small sales success , which also contained the duet How to love Again with Alyson Williams , which was also released at the same time . As with the duet, the chart successes of the follow-up productions under Def Jam Recordings failed to materialize. Jones therefore moved to Tommy Boy Entertainment in the 1990s . When the success did not materialize, Jones withdrew into private life. He took care of his terminally ill mother and supported his son Oran II, aka Mookie, and his daughter Perri Jones in their music careers. In 1997 Jones contributed with Poppin 'That Fly a soundtrack to the movie Nix to Lose .
