Oriental ( Arabic الجهة الشرقية, Tamazight : ⵜⴰⴳⵎⵓⴹⴰⵏⵜ) was one of the 16 regions of Morocco whose territory was reorganized with the administrative reform in 2015 . The region was in the northeast of the kingdom. In 2004, 1,918,094 people lived in the Oriental area, covering an area of 82,900 km². The population rose to 2,314,346 by 2014. The capital of the region was Oujda .
