Souss-Massa-Draâ ( Arabic سوس ماسة درعة) was one of the 16 regions of Morocco until the administrative reform of 2015 and was located in the south of the kingdom. Around 4 million people (mostly Berbers ) live in the entire area of Souss-Massa-Draâ on an area of around 70,880 km². The capital of the region was Agadir on the Atlantic coast ; the fertile Souss plain was part of the region.
The name of the region was derived from the three great rivers Oued Souss , Oued Massa and Oued Draâ .
The region consisted of the following provinces, whose main towns often have the same name:
- Agadir-Ida ou Tanane
- Chtouka-Aït Baha
- Inezgane-Aït Melloul
- Ouarzazate
- Sidi Ifni
- Taroudant
- Tinghir
- Tiznit
- Zagora
Since 2015 the prefectures Agadir-Ida ou Tanane and Inezgane-Aït Melloul, as well as the provinces Chtouka-Aït Baha, Taroudannt and Tiznit belong to the region Souss-Massa . The provinces of Ouarzazate, Tinghir and Zagora belong to the Drâa-Tafilalet region . The Sidi Ifni province belongs to the Guelmim-Oued Noun region .
