Originators of the Northern Darkness - A Tribute to Mayhem is a tribute album to the Norwegian black metal band Mayhem . It was released in 2001 by Avantgarde Music on CD and in a limited CD version in black leather. Mayhem's vocalist Attila Csihar himself appeared on the release as he did the vocals on Emperor's version of Funeral Fog .

style

Most of the pieces are based on the sound of their originals, essentially De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas . Seth's cover of I Am Thy Labyrinth from the EP Wolf's Lair Abyss is incorrectly titled Into Thy Labyrinth .

Reviews

The album was received positively, but also criticized for the fact that the bands did not bring their own style in their orientation to Mayhem.
