Orlando Antonini

Orlando Antonini (born October 15, 1944 in Villa Sant'Angelo , L'Aquila province , Italy ) is a Roman Catholic Archbishop and Vatican diplomat .

Life

Orlando Antonini received on 29 June 1968 by the Archbishop of L'Aquila , Costantino Stella , the sacrament of Holy Orders . Antonini was incardinated in the Archdiocese of L'Aquila . He received his doctorate in canon law .

On March 25, 1980, Orlando Antonini entered the diplomatic service of the Holy See . He worked in the Apostolic Nunciatures in Bangladesh , Madagascar , Syria , Chile , the Netherlands and France and in the Vatican State Secretariat . Pope John Paul II awarded him the title of Honorary Prelate of His Holiness on June 15, 1994 .

On July 24, 1999, John Paul II appointed him titular archbishop of Formiae and appointed him apostolic nuncio in Zambia and Malawi . He received his episcopal ordination on September 11, 1999, Cardinal Secretary of State Angelo Sodano ; Co- consecrators were the Archbishop of L'Aquila, Giuseppe Molinari , and the official in the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples , Archbishop Charles Asa Schleck CSC . Pope Benedict XVI appointed him on November 16, 2005 as Apostolic Nuncio in Paraguay and on August 8, 2009 as Apostolic Nuncio in Serbia .
