The Ortec International BV (short ORTEC), headquartered in the Netherlands Zoetermeer is a global provider of planning and optimization software as well as related consulting services for logistics management . The company has offices in Europe, North and South America and the Asia-Pacific region. The German locations are in Bremen and Heidelberg .

history

In October 1994 the qualified industrial engineers Frank Stelter and Stefan Huntemann founded LOGIPLAN GmbH in Harpstedt . Within the following decade, LOGIPLAN GmbH grew into one of the leading IT companies for logistics software in Germany. In 2004 LOGIPLAN employed over 70 people and achieved an annual turnover of over six million euros. At first, LOGIPLAN was primarily specialized in logistics consulting, but quickly got involved in the development of logistics software thanks to a sales license for electronic loading space calculation . The load space optimization software “LoadDesigner” was launched onto the market in 1998 with great success as the first proprietary user software . Shortly thereafter, other optimization tools followed, such as the “KommPack” picking planning and control system and the “OptiPack” packaging planning and optimization.

The first users included the Hamburg shipping company Hapag-Lloyd , the branded goods manufacturer Henkel , Düsseldorf , and the transport and logistics service providers Rohde & Liesenfeld and Schenker AG . As part of the steady expansion , the Harpstedt headquarters was initially relocated to a large new building in the neighboring Wildeshausen on November 29, 2002 . In 2015 the company moved to its current headquarters in Bremen's Überseestadt . The office building was designed according to the most modern aspects for a high quality of stay for the employees and high flexibility of use. The Bremen Senator for Economic Affairs, Martin Günthner , took part in the opening of the new location .

In 1997 the collaboration with the Dutch IT company ORTEC BV began, which moved its headquarters from Gouda to Zoetermeer in 2014 . With this, LOGIPLAN took over the general agency for the route planning software "Shortec" developed by ORTEC for the German market with great success . In 2003 there was a change in the shareholder structure for the first time in the history of LOGIPLAN. The close collaboration with ORTEC then led to a participation of the Dutch company as a partner of LOGIPLAN. With this strong partner behind LOGIPLAN continued to expand: in early 2004 founded the business LOGIPLAN SAP - Consulting / - Integration / - Development , many new again so jobs created. With this, Logiplan reacted to the increasing use of SAP logistics software and optimization processes in the SAP environment. The optimization processes are now in use worldwide thanks to an extensive international partner network. Customers include industrial and trading companies as well as transport and logistics service providers, including well-known companies from the chemical , automotive , consumer goods , food , beverages , confectionery and building materials sectors . In 1998 ORTEC BV took over 25% of the shares in LOGIPLAN GmbH and in 2003 finally the majority of the shares from the two previous LOGIPLAN sole owners. The company name was initially changed to ORTEC LOGIPLAN and finally, in 2015, completely to ORTEC in order to use synergies in the international branding.

The complete change of name from LOGIPLAN GmbH to ORTEC GmbH took place with the relocation of the headquarters to Überseestadt in Bremen in January 2015.

Ortec develops intelligent software for planning processes in the transport logistics and service sectors, in industrial and trading companies as well as in the field of workforce planning . In addition to Windows- based solutions, Ortec provides add-ons for logistics planning that are fully integrated in SAP ERP . Then there is the Ortec for Communications application . The approximately 900 employees work for Ortec in 18 branches in Europe, North and South America and Asia-Pacific. The German locations are in Bremen and Heidelberg.

The company is organized as a GmbH and, depending on the project, works either independently or in close cooperation with the Dutch parent company. The portfolio of software solutions developed in-house is extensive. In the logistics business area , the areas of route and cargo space optimization (also in SAP ) and warehousing are covered. In the field of deployment planning, ORTEC offers solutions for optimized service and personnel deployment planning .

Ortec GmbH regularly organizes events on core topics in logistics. In autumn 2019, over 40 top-class logistics experts discussed at the “Ortec Roundtable 2019” how improved logistical service quality can lead to lower costs and, at the same time, to greater sustainability. The keynote speaker was Professor Michael Freitag, head of the Bremen Institute for Production and Logistics BIBA at the University of Bremen .

Since it was founded, social projects have been funded in the four core areas of environment , society, education and sport .

Projects

ORTEC GmbH has been a certified SAP solution partner in Germany since 2008 (ORTEC BV since 1999) and, with the latest product, ORTEC for SAP S / 4 HANA, (on-premise) offers its software for optimizing logistics processes as an ABAP add-on for SAP S / 4 HANA. After the first successfully completed customer pilot projects, the official version 1.0 was published for the general market in the second quarter of 2018. Many existing customers of today's ORTEC for SAP ERP solution have already announced that they will continue to use the solutions for packaging and loading space optimization as well as for dynamic route planning after switching from SAP ERP to SAP S / 4 HANA.
