Oscar Ferro , full name Oscar Julio Ferro Gandara , (born March 2, 1967 in Montevideo ) is a former Uruguayan football player .
Player career
society
The 1.84 meter tall "Gallego" called goalkeeper Ferro was at the beginning of his career from 1985 to 1995 with the first division club Atlético Peñarol under contract. The Aurinegros was during this period in the years 1985, 1986, 1993, 1994 and 1995 Uruguayan champions. At the international level, the club also won the Copa Libertadores in 1987 . In 1994 Ferro was in the final of the Copa Conmebol with the Montevideans and guarded the goal in both finals. From 1995 to 1998 he played 72 games for the Argentine club Ferro Carril Oeste . In 1998 and 1999 at least 55 games for Sporting Cristal from Peru followed . In 1999/2000 he held two positions at Club Atlético Huracán in Argentina and at SD Compostela in Spain . At the Spanish club he played from his debut on January 16, 2000 against Recreativo de Huelva to two games in the Segunda División and one in the Copa del Rey . In 2001 he was under contract with Club Guaraní in Paraguay . However, he was also used sporadically in the 2001 Clausura under coach Manuel Keosseián at the Uruguayan first division club Defensor . Three completed games are played there for him. After his return in February 2002 to 2003, he spent his last career years at Peñarol again.
National team
1986 Ferro took part with the Uruguayan selection at the 1986 South American Games in Chile . He was also a member of his home country's senior team . From his debut on November 9, 1988 to his last appearance on October 11, 1995, he completed nine internationals in which he had to accept a total of twelve goals. He took part in both the Copa America 1993 and the Copa America 1995 , but was only substitute goalkeeper during the tournaments in 1993 behind Robert Siboldi and in 1995 behind Fernando Álvez . When participating in 1995, the Celeste won the title.

Coaching career
