Andrew Rubin

Andrew Harold Rubin (born June 22, 1946 in New Bedford , Massachusetts - † October 5, 2015 in Los Angeles , California ) was an American actor .

life and career

Rubin was born in 1946 in the port city of New Bedford to the actress Leona Rubin , nee Greenstone , and the manufacturer Simon Rubin . Rubin was not yet ten years old when he had been fascinated by acting for a long time. He was seen in a number of plays in his school and later in college . Since he had decided very early on to become an actor, he saw little point in going to university after completing his schooling. He applied for the Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City and graduated successfully.

Rubin was present on US television primarily in the 1970s and 1980s. Because of his appearance, he often embodied southerners. It was first seen in an episode of Bracken's World in 1970 . He was part of the cast of the television series Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman and starred in an episode of the very successful series The Jeffersons . He gained further international fame as George Martin in the Police Academy - Dumber Than the Police Allowed . He then played Christopher Springer in Hometown and Willie Smith in Joe Bash . After a break of almost ten years from the television and film business, he appeared in an episode of the miniseries From the Earth to the Moon in 1998 . Rubin then stopped acting in film and television and volunteered at various organizations.

Rubin died of complications from lung cancer in Los Angeles on October 5, 2015, at the age of 69 .
