Osek (German Wosek ) is a district of the municipality Kněžice in the Czech Republic. It is located nine kilometers northeast of Městec Králové and belongs to the Okres Nymburk .
geography
Osek is located on a ridge on the Bohemian Table. To the north rise the hills "Na Kostele" (298 m) and the "Na pískách" (291 m) and Darebnice (248 m).
Neighboring towns are Sekeřice in the north, Kozojídky and Vinary in the northeast, Janovice, Hlušice and Hlušičky in the east, Žantov, Kamilov and Nový Dvůr in the south, Kněžice in the south-west, Dubečno in the west and Dvoříště in the north-west.
history
Osek was first mentioned in writing in 1436, when Emperor Sigismund pledged the village along with Chroustov , Dubečno and Dvoříště to the Havel von Dřevěnice. After the Waldsteiner Osek had acquired together with the Dominium Königstädtel in 1587 , they connected goods to the Dymokury rule .
In the 18th and 19th centuries, the place became known for its naturopaths.
After the abolition of patrimonial Vosek formed a municipality in the Poděbrady district from 1850 . At the beginning of 1961, Osek was assigned to the Okres Nymburk. Since 1980 the village has been part of Kněžice. In 1991 the place had 88 inhabitants. In 2001 the village consisted of 60 houses in which 65 people lived.
