Carl Wilhelm Hermann Oskar Knoblauch (born July 1, 1862 in Halle (Saale) , † December 23, 1946 in Munich ) was a German physicist and university professor . In some publications, he joined as an author or co-author under the name Os c ar on.

Knoblauch studied physics and mathematics at the universities of Marburg , Halle , Berlin and Bonn from 1881 to 1887 , where he received his doctorate in 1887. phil. received his doctorate .

From 1902 he taught as a private lecturer and associate professor at the universities in Erlangen , Leipzig and Munich before he took over a chair for physics there in 1910 at the Royal Technical University (now the Technical University ), which he held until 1942. He headed the Laboratory for Technical Physics at the Technical University and was instrumental in providing scientific support for the Research Institute for Thermal Insulation in Munich. For his achievements in Munich he was awarded the honorary title of Dr.-Ing. eh and privy councilor awarded. He received an honorary doctorate from the Technical University of Dresden.

His areas of work were mainly technical physics and classical thermodynamics .
