geography

course

The Otterbach arises west of the wasteland Lauberhart of the municipality of Lauben in the Herrengehau forest at about 655  m above sea level. NHN . From here it flows northwards in an arc that is slightly to the right. On the edge of the small cleared island around Otterwald ( Niederrieden municipality ), it takes up a noticeably shorter source stream, around 1.4 km long, which has just crossed the hamlet. Then it flows again through forests in an approximately north-northeast direction. For the last kilometer of his run, he changes to the open corridor south of Klosterbeuren. Then it unites with the right main strand upper course Wiesenbach at about 557  m above sea level. NHN on the southern outskirts of the village of Klosterbeuren from Babenhausen to the Klosterbeurener Bach, which itself flows into the Günz about 3 km further down in Babenhausen .

For a large part of its course, the Otterbach follows the borders between the communities Egg an der Günz in the east and Niederrieden , Boos and Babenhausen in the west.

Catchment area

The catchment area covers about 12 km² and stretches for a very long time in the direction of flow. Here the brook runs much closer to its right watershed with a significantly steeper right slope, behind which the terrain then slopes down to the other upper course, the Wiesenbach, of the Klosterbeurener Bach. Beyond the more distant left watershed, to which the terrain rises significantly flatter, the Auerbach runs almost parallel to the Günz in Babenhausen. The highest point of the catchment area is on the southern tip at about 672  m above sea level. NHN ; here the headwaters of the Roth border only a short distance to the west .

Tributaries

  • (Inflow from the Gewann Glashofwaldung ), from the right near Otterwald, approx. 1.4 km.
The Otterbach itself is around 2.8 km long here
  • (Inflow from the edge of the clearing island around Boos-Reichau), from left to and out of a forest pond, approx. 1.3 km
  • (Inflow from the Klosterbeurer Forest ), from the left, approx. 1.3 km
  • (Inflow from the Wäldle ), from the left in the corridor close to Klosterbeuren, approx. 1.4 km

At Otterwald, where it is less than a kilometer and a half long, it takes in an almost three-kilometer-long forest stream from the right. As a result, the left slope is usually much flatter than the right and three streams flow into it from the left, none of which exceed a kilometer and a half in length.
